Ulagalla Resort in the ancient kingdom of Anuradhapura is built on sprawling estate 58 acres of tropical woodlands, rice paddies, man-made Lakes and reservoirs. The entrance is through a large ornate wooden gate and just beyond is a 150 year old ancestral mansion which has been elaborately restored with minimum changes to its original architectural design. It is fronted by a grand forecourt and a tranquil man-made Lily pond. This building houses the dining room, bar, reception and office and area. Ulagalla Resort follows a stringent eco friendly policy; generating its own electricity via a solar farm and using bio gas for lighting the pathways, electric powered golf carts, and the permitted mode of motorized transport within the property. Ulagalla Resort has its own organic farm from which you can pick fruit and vegetables for your meal

The Ulagalla Resort has 19 individual chalets and an elegant two bed-roomed suite spread out among the vast estate offering its honored guests luxurious living with complete privacy in a beautiful and natural tropical setting.

The Ulagalla resort encourages its guests to experience the great outdoors so bicycles are provided free of charge for the adventurous to explore the vast estate, while Kayaking on the reservoir, horse riding and archery is available at a nominal charge. The Balinese spa located among lush tropical foliage offers a spa menu with a variety of massages, treatments and therapies including the resort’s signature spa treatment.

The evening dining experience can be at the ‘Liyawela’ main restaurant, which overlooks the pool or dine at your own living space such as the sun deck, by the plunge pool or indoors at your chalet or suite. Other unique locations for picnic or day time meals include the observation deck overlooking rice paddies, in the shade of a tree at the threshing ground or forest or any other venue of your choice.
