Behind the Temple of the Tooth and the royal palace complex, is the lush and relatively untouched vegetation of the Udawattakela Sanctuary. Some 160 acres of tropical rainforest provide a haven of fascinating flowers, birds and monkeys. This ancient reserve, now surrounded by Kandy, offers pleasant walking as well as opportunities to see birds and other wildlife.
